Newborn boy found abandoned in Rayagada

Rayagada: Adding to the unending episode of child abandonment in the State, another newborn boy has been rescued from a school premise in Gudari area in Rayagada district on Friday.

As per the report, one Pandab Sahu of the village reached out to the baby after hearing his scream at around 9 am in the morning. The baby had been left inside the campus of Gudari Government High School by somebody.

Post rescue, the villagers rushed the newborn to Gudari Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.

“The health condition of the newborn is stable after treatment, his weight is around 2 kg,” said Dr Soumya Ranjan Patra, who treated the baby at the CHC.

Local police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are trying to trace the parents of the rescued baby.
