Dhenkanal: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in Hadagada forest under Tumusingha police limits of the district on Thursday morning. The baby, which seemed to be less than a week old, was rescued by locals who heard her cry.
The baby girl has been admitted to Anlabereni Community Health Centre.
According to reports, 5-6 villagers of Sogor village were out to collect firewood, when one Siddhant Mallick passing by the bush heard the cry. He stopped near the bushes and found the baby girl, who had been bitten by ants crawling on her body.
The baby was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre. Initially she was under observation of the doctors and later declared out of danger.
Meanwhile, police have been informed and investigation is on to trace the whereabouts of her parents.
