New Year 2019: Sand Artists Sudarsan Pattnaik, Manas Kumar Sahoo create special sculptures

Puri: With the world witnessing the first sunrise of the New Year-2019 with a lot of hope and aspirations today, the internationally acclaimed sand artist of Odisha Sudarsan Pattnaik created a beautiful sand structure at Puri sea beach to spread green message on its eve.

The special sand art which aims at persuading people for plantation of trees to save the environment became a major attraction on the sea beach this morning.

Talking on the theme of the sand sculpture Pattanik said,“through this sand creation we want to make people aware on the need of tree plantation. We appeal them to plant maximum number of trees.”

Patnaik also wished all a very happy new year on the occasion.

The Padma Shri awardee artist also created another sculpture of Lord Jagannath with a height of 7 to 8 feet to attract more tourists who visited the religious town for darshan of the deities.

Similarly, another acclaimed sand artist of the State Manas Kumar Sahoo also welcomed the New Year through his sand art at the Puri beach. He took up the cause of universal brotherhood and constructed a sand sculpture showcasing the famous monuments from across the world.

“Through this sculpture I want to convey to the world the importance of universal brotherhood and world peace. Famous monuments of different countiries of the world have found place in it. The sculpture which is 12 feet high took 16 hours to be erected,” said Sahoo.
