New OPCC chief visits Srimandir, seeks blessings of deities

Puri: The newly appointed OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik visited Lord Jagannath Temple here along with his team today and offered prayer to the deities.

An otherwise spirited looking Patnaik expressed his hope for the elevation of the Congress party in the state in the coming days, soon after the visit and came down heavily upon the ruling BJD party in the state. He said the BJD has disappointed youths, farmers, women, tribals and dalits of the state during its past 18 years rule. But at the same time Patnaik assured people that the situation would start changing now.

“I have sought blessings from the deities for Odisha’s development and the service of the Odias. I would not let the people down,” he added.

Informing about his future course of action to revive the crumbling base of Congress in Odisha, the OPCC chief said steps would be taken to strengthen the party from the booth level and a blueprint would be prepared in this connection.

The new AICC In-charge of Odisha Jitendra Singh, three working presidents, Chiranjiv Biswal, Naba Kishore Das and Pradip Majhi along with former local MLA Uma Ballav Rath accompanied Patnaik during his visit.
