Berhampur: In a ghastly incident, a man was killed allegedly by his nephew and other family members at Salabana village under Kodala police limits of Ganjam district today.
According to sources, a war of words erupted between one Adikanda Deo and his nephew over some unknown issue. However, it took an ugly turn and members of both the families attacked each other.
Some locals tried their best to pacify both sides, but the fight intensified following which Adikanda was killed by his nephew and his kin.
The violence also left three family members of deceased Adikanda critical.
On being informed by some villagers, Kodala police reached the spot and detained four persons in connection with the incident.
While an investigation into the matter is underway, past enmity is suspected to be the reason behind the murder, the police said adding Adikanda’s body has been sent to the hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, the injured persons are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
