Bhubaneswar: Amid loud cheers from the spectators, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik watched the ongoing 22nd Asian Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium here on Friday.
Patnaik was seen sitting along with the Asian Athletics Association President Dahlan Jumaan al-Hamad from the gallery and encouraging the sports persons at the mega event.
The Chief Minister witnessed some magnificent display by the Indian athletes on the second day of the continental sports meet. Local favourite Dutee Chand won the Bronze medal in the 100 metre sprint on a rain-soaked evening.
Muhammad Anas and Nirmala Sheoran won a Gold medal each in the 400 metres races, while Silver medals went to India through Rajiv Arokia and Jisna Mathew. PU Chitra and Ajay Kumar Saroj bagged a Gold each in the 1,500 metres races.
At this moment, India are currently at the top of the medals tally while China stood at 2nd position.
