Naveen Patnaik unveils BJD’s election manifesto for women & girls

Nuapada: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled party’s election manifesto for women and girls of the state while addressing an election campaign meeting at Nuapada’s Komna on Monday.

While speaking about BJD’s manifesto, Patnaik promised that his party, if voted to power, would provide Rs 5000 crore worth government deeds every year to the Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Mission Shakti. He said that the women will be given the government jobs like mid-day meal (MDM), public distribution system (PDS), paddy procurement, management of Ashram schools, tourism potential management, hospital management, transportation, tax and revenue collection, supply of school uniform, etc. and by means of it they will earn Rs 5,000 crore per year.

Naveen also assured to provide accidental insurance facility for every member of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) and zero interest loan upto Rs 5 lakh to all the SHGs.

The BJD president also announced that the conch party if forms the government in the state will increase the annual health coverage of Rs 7 lakh for each woman under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) to Rs 10 lakh.

Patnaik also promised to provide free education to all girls from KG to PG, Medical, Engineering courses. Besides, he also promised Rs 25,000 marriage assistance for each poor girl.
