Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the ‘Odisha Skills 2018’at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. Patnaik inaugurated, the first-of-its-kind skills competition organised by the state government.
While addressing the gathering the Chief Minister said that the event would provide students and trainees across the state with a platform to showcase their talent and prove their merit on a bigger stage.
Expressing his happiness over the achievement of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY), Naveen said, “It is a matter of great pleasure that Odisha has been adjudged as the best State in the country under DDUGKY for the second time in a row. Odisha’s ITIs are also among the best in the country. I congratulate the Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Odisha Skill Development Authority and all those who are involved in Skilled-in-Odisha mission.”
He also stated, “Our Mission for World Skills has to be Mission-1-2-3, that is 1. Gold, 2. Silver and 3. Bronze.”
As many as 200 participants from different districts of the state will compete in 25 trades during the two day-long competition at IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar on April 29 and 30 from 10 AM to 8 PM.
The Chief Minister also announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the gold medalist, Rs 75,000 for silver medalist and Rs 50,000 for the bronze medalist at the national level skill competition from the state.
Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Usha Devi and Odisha Skill Development Authority head Subroto Bagchi and other dignitaries were present during the inauguration of ‘Odisha Skills 2018’.
