Naveen Patnaik Holds Discussion With Gujarat CM To Bring Back Stranded Odia Migrant Workers

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday held a discussion with his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani through video-conferencing.

The focal point of the two leaders’ discussion was to initiate measures to bring back Odia migrant workers who are stranded in Gujarat due to the ongoing nationwide lockdown.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took part in the discussion.

The Odisha Chief Minister’s Office informed that during the discussion, it was decided that a coordination committee comprising two officials each from Odisha & Gujarat will be set up. Besides, it was decided that arrangements of special buses will be made for the transportation of migrant workers.

Registration of the migrant labourers wiling to return to the State has been made mandatory. This apart, they will have to remain in a 14-day quarantine after their arrival.
