Naveen Patnaik, BJDBhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD ) President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday clarified that his party would not join hands with the opposition congress in the Assembly polls in 2019.

Patnaik took Twitter route and stated that BJD would contest the polls in its own strength maintaining an equidistance from both Congress and  BJP .

“BJD is equidistant from Congress & BJP. With the blessings of our people we will continue in our fight for the rights of #Odisha”, BJD supremo wrote on his twitter handle.

The Chief Minister’s comment came a day after party Vice President and State Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout stated that the ruling BJD would be ready to tie up with the opposition Congress party to check the communal forces in the state.

Rout, however, said that the final call on the issue would be taken by Naveen Patnaik.
