National Chess meet to be held in Smart Village KalarabankBhubaneswar: For the first time in the history of India, a national sports event will be organized in a village.

The 18th National cities Chess Championship- 2017 will be held at Smart Village Kalarabank in Jagatsinghpur district from 6th to 10th August.

The championship will be jointly organized by KIIT University and Jagatsinghpur District Chess Association.

A total of 32 National City Teams consisting of over 200 players from across the country will participate in the championship.

The prestigious national level chess event is slated to be inaugurated by Odisha’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera in the presence of Jagatsinghpur District collector and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Vijay Goel is scheduled to attend the concluding ceremony of the sports meet and distribute awards to the winners on 10th August.
