Narsinghpur IIC arrested by Vigilance for taking Rs 20k bribe

Cuttack: Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Narsinghpur Police Station has been arrested by the Vigilance Official today on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The accused police officer has been identified as Alekh Gardia.

According to the Vigilance department, IIC Alekh Gardia has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.10 dated 06.02.2022 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.

It is to be noted here that the anti-corruption team conducted a raid and caught Gardia red-handed while taking the cash to settle a family dispute.

Following the raid, simultaneous house searches are underway at the official quarters of the Alekh Gardia in Narsinghpur police station campus and at his native village in Bhandarimal under Jujumara Police limits in Sambalpur district.
