Bhubaneswar: At least three tourists sustained injuries when a bus ferrying them along with other visitors inside Lion Safari of Nandankanan Zoological Park veered off track and met with an accident here today.

Out of the three injured persons, two are said to be critical with one of them being admitted in the ICU of a city-based private hospital.

All the injured persons have been identified as residents of Mahura village under Tomando police limits.

Though there was no danger to the lives of the visitors from the wild animals, authorities of the Zoological Park rushed to the spot and rescued them by putting the bus back on the track.

It is worthwhile to mention here that, as many as 45 tourists had got stuck in the same Lion Safari when their bus got stuck in a muddy patch in the middle of the wild beast’s home on November 18. They were rescued only after the intervention of the safari authorities who had a tough time getting the lions inside the den and rescuing the tourists in another bus.
