Niali: Mysterious animal fear loomed large in Niali block of Cuttack district again last night after at least six sheep were found dead in Dahijang village under Bilasuni panchayat.
The sheep carcasses were found in the cattle shed of one local, Uday Bhoi in the village. Uday who had earlier lost 4 sheep in the animal attack, went on an inspection of his shed this morning and came across the dead sheep in a pool of blood. Pug marks of the predator were also found in and around the spot pointing at the same modus operandi of the mysterious animal.
Forest officials and veterinary teams reached the village and examined the dead sheep later in the morning. They have also collected the visuals recorded in a CCTV installed not very far from the village and examining those to gather information on the mysterious animal.
So far, at least 62 sheep have fallen prey to the predator in Niali and neighbouring Kantapada block after mysterious animal attack resurfaced in the district this November.
