Muskaan-III: 9 minors rescued from Delhi

Muskaan-IIINew Delhi: In a major achievement, Odisha police on Monday rescued nine children from the clutches of child traffickers under operation Muskaan-III from different locations of New Delhi.

The minors aged between 9 and 13 from Odisha were found from Kamla Nagar, Vikaspuri, Ashok Vihar and Faridabad. Odisha Crime Branch rescued them with the help of Shakti Bahini, an NGO.

According to reports, the traffickers were supposed to sell them to be engage in illegal activities.

Apart from the nine children in Delhi, sources said that more than 40 children were rescued from different corners of the country. While 19 children were rescued from West Bengal, 6 children were rescued from Andhra Pradesh, 6 from Maharashtra, 3 from Kerala, 3 from UP and 16 from Tamil Nadu.

The Odisha Crime Branch had begun the second phase of the 15-day rescue operation from July 30 in an effort to rescue missing children from outside the state.

As many as 10 teams comprising Police and Women & Child development officials visited different States to trace the missing children from Odisha.

The first phase inside the state was conducted from July 15 to July 29.
