Berhampur: As many as six persons were arrested by the police for their involvement in the murder of the former Sarpanch of Anantei gram panchayat on the outskirt of Berhampur city.
Former Sarpanch of Anantei GP, Pradeep Bisoyi was hacked to death by the miscreants on Anantei-Berhampur Main road on November 5.
Police started an investigation into the matter after Pradeep’s wife Gitanjali Bisoyi filed a complaint over the murder incident at Badabazar Police Station.
Based on the complaint, swung into action and arrested the accused persons and forwarded five of them to the court and sent the minor boy to the rehabilitation centre.
Three swords, two bikes and six mobile phones were seized from their possession.
Sources said the two-time Sarpanch was killed over a past enmity adding that police likely to take the prime accused on remand to interrogate him further to extract more information about the murder.
