Rourkela: Panic gripped passengers of the Howrah-bound Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Howrah Express when a coach of the train caught fire between Lotapahad and Chakradharpur railway stations near Odisha’s Rourkela on Monday.

After getting information, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. After this, the train left Chakradharpur station and resumed journey towards Howrah via Tatanagar Junction in the afternoon.

It is being said that the fire was caused due to sparking in the break winding of the train’s wheel.

According to reports, a few passengers jumped off from the running train in a bid to save their lives.

However, South Eastern Railway spokesperson Sanjay Ghosh dismissed such reports and said “nothing abnormal” was reported to them except an incident of alarm chain pulling.
