Rourkela: Muktikanta Biswal, who walked over 1400 kilometers to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remind him of his promises made on April 1, 2015, received a grand welcome from the public on his return to his hometown after 80 days.

Biswal, however, was not happy as he said, “I am unhappy because the hopes and dreams with which I had gone to Delhi have not come true. But, my return to Odisha does not mean that the fight ends here. I will unite the people of Rourkela and our fight will continue.”

Notably, Muktikanta had on April 16 embarked upon a journey on foot to meet the PM and remind him of his promises made to upgrade Rourkela’s Ispat General Hospital to a Speciality Hospital and Medical College and construct a second bridge over Brahmani River.

He had even approached Union Minister Jual Oram, Sundergarh MP to help him meet the PM but it did not work out.

He was on a hunger strike and was repeatedly detained by Delhi Police for his endeavours. However, he broke his fast on July 4 after failing to meet the Prime Minister.
