Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s mountaineer and the eldest son of Jatani MLA Suresh Kumar Routray (commonly known as Sura Routray), Sidharth Routray, who successfully scaled the Mt Everest recently, returned to the State today.

Sidharth Routray received a grand welcome on his arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar. Sura Routray along with hundreds of supporters received him and felicitated him for his achievement.

It is to be noted here that Sidharth Routray climbed atop the Mt Everest on May 15, 2022. He reached the highest peak in the world at around 4 AM and waved the Indian national flag and Patitapabana Bana of Lord Jagannath. It took him 15 days for him to reach the summit of the mountain.

Sidharth, who is recognised as the first Ironman from Odisha in 2016, has already climbed the top 3 peaks in three continents of North America, South America and Africa.

In January this year, Sidharth, who has climbed Mt Dennali in North America, Mt Aconcagua in South America and Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, had successfully scaled the highest peak in the South American continent, Mount Aconcagua.
