Kendrapara: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed along with her newborn baby following a crash between an auto rickshaw and a truck near Khamarpada on National Highway-5 in Kendrapara district on Saturday.
Four others including an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker sustained critical injuries in the crash.
As per the report, the victim woman identified as a resident of Teragan of Mahakalpada block of the district had been to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) yesterday. She was returning home along with an Asha worker and three others in an auto after giving birth to a girl child when the mishap took place in the wee hours today.
Driver of a speeding truck which was heading to Kendrapara lost control over the wheels and drove extremely left to hit the auto carrying the victim duo to kill them on the spot.
All the injured in the accident have been rushed to Kendrapara DHH.
Police have seized the mangled auto and launched an investigation.
