Kendrapara: A woman committed suicide by jumping into Gobari river after drowning her seven-year-old daughter in water in Chakada Gagua village under Tantiapal police limits last night.
The deceased mother-daughter duo has been identified as Neuli Jena (48) and Jhuni Jena (9).
As per the report, Neuli went out of her home along with daughter last night and didn’t return till late. The mother-daughter duo’s body was spotted floating in the Gobari river water this morning by villagers and fished out.
While the villagers have suspected that the victim took the extreme step over a domestic quarrel, her husband identified as Jadu Jena, who fathers three more children have claimed her to be mentally unstable.
Meanwhile, Mahakalapada police have rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
