More Than 23,000 Acres Of Ganja Cultivation Destroyed In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police launched a major drive against the illegal ganja cultivation during the crop year ( starts in September-October and lasts in February- March ) 2020-21 and destroyed more than 23,000 acres in various places of Odisha.

The drive has resulted in all time record of destroying the huge acres of cannabis cultivation in the state.

According to reports, maximum areas of ganja cultivation of five districts, such as Kandhamal, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Boudh and Rayagada, have been destroyed during this drive.

It is worth mentioning that during the crop year 2019-20 it was more than 18, 000 acres and in 2018-19 it was more than 11600 acres.

It is not only an all time highest figure for Odisha but probably for the entire country in one crop year, said sources.
