Monsoon to hit Odisha: Low pressure to form over BoB on June 20!

Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is likely to hit Odisha in the next three days and low pressure is also likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on June 20.

Reportedly, the onset of the southwest monsoon has taken place over south Odisha in Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts on Thursday whereas it has partially hit Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Rayagada districts.

The rainfall will intensify from June 19 as heavy rains are expected in Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Jajpur districts.

It is pertinent to mention that according to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the monsoon is expected to reach other parts of the state in the next two to three days due to favorable weather conditions. As a result, the southwest monsoon is likely to be active across Odisha.

Besides, a yellow warning for rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning in different districts of Odisha till June 20.

Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri from 8.30 AM of June 17 up to 8.30 AM of June 18. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Jajpur.
