Monsoon Session Of Odisha Assembly: Second Phase To Begin Today

Bhubaneswar: The second phase of the Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will begin today and will continue till August 4.

Reportedly, the Budget will be passed on July 30, informed Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha.

Reports from various standing committees will be presented in the second phase. The expenditure claims from various departments will be discussed from July 14 to July 28.

It has been learnt that if budget discussion of any department is left out, it will be passed through a guillotine on July 29 where all the outstanding demands for grants are put to vote at once. The Assembly Speaker Arukha has further requested all the members of the Assembly to help the session run smoothly.

Notably, questions regarding the death of BJB college student Ruchika is likely to raise in the assembly. Congress has come up with a strategy to surround the government with the help of the police, added sources. It is also likely that BJP will raise issues regarding farming, elephant deaths, law and orders, and farmer suicides.

Meanwhile, The Chief Whip of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Prashant Muduli said that they are prepared to discuss each and every issue which will be raised by the opposition leaders.

It is pertinent to mention that the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly began on July 2 where on the first day of the session, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari presented the full-fledged State Budget for the year 2022-23.
