Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is expected to hit the Odisha coast on June 15, the regional MeT centre here informed on Saturday.
The prediction comes after the monsoon arrived in Kerala on Saturday.
Normally, it takes about a week for the monsoon to reach the Odisha after hitting the Kerala coast. Thus, it is most likely to hit Odisha coast tentatively by June 15.
However, the IMD also revealed that the arrival of the monsoon in Odisha depends on favourable weather conditions. If the wind speed is normal, the monsoon will arrive in a week.
But if the wind speed is slow, then this may lead to a further delay in Monsoon by 2-3 days.
