Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a monkey fled with a 15-day-old boy while he was sleeping inside the house at Talabasta village in Banki block of the district on Saturday.
According to source, one Ramakrishna Nayak of Talabasta village was asleep in his house along with his baby boy and wife. Nayak’s wife got-up to attend the nature’s call early this morning. However, while she was returning home, to her surprise, she saw a monkey carrying the infant. The monkey vanished from the spot as Nayak’s wife alerted the neighbours.
“A monkey came to the house and ran-away with the baby boy while he was asleep in the house along with his parents. The incident occurred at 6 AM,” said Nayak’s sister-in-law.
Meanwhile, a massive rescue operation has been launched to trace the child.
“We arrived here after getting information about the incident. We have launched a search operation. The locals are also helping to trace the monkey which fled with the 16-day-old baby from his mother’s lap. More forest officials and fire officials will be engaged in the search operation if required,” said Akshay Kumar, IIC locals police outpost.
