Bhubaneswar: Mohana MLA Basanti Mallick joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here this evening ahead of the state Assembly election beginning from April 11.
Mallick had resigned from the primary membership of the state ruling BJD
earlier in the day. She had sent her resignation letter to BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik alleging neglect by party leaders in the district.
BJD had replaced the sitting MLA with Purnabasi Nayak to contest the state assembly election from Mohana constituency of Gajapati district.
