Balasore: Electronic items and goods worth lakhs of rupees have been gutted in a massive fire which broke out in Nuagaon market in Balaiapal block of Balasore dilstrict today.
The blaze erupted in a mobile shop located in the market early in the morning and later spread very rapidly while everybody was asleep. The owner, namely one Jagabandhu, who had left for his home after closing the shop the previous night, was called up by his fellow traders and the firefighting efforts were launched, which went futile.
Till the fire services officials rushed to the spot after getting intimation, the flames had burnt down mobile sets, accessories, computers and Xerox machines completely.
The loss incurred due to the fire will be close to Rs 5 lakh, informed Jagabandhu.
While police is examining the cause of the fire, an electric short circuit is being suspected behind it.
