Mobile Science Van Flagged Off To Mark Silver Jubilee Of Dhenkanal Science Centre

Dhenkanal: A mobile science van was today flagged off at the Dhenkanal Science Centre on its silver jubilee celebration. Officials said that this is the first mobile van of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) which will reach rural areas to students having an interest in science.

The mobile van has been designed at an estimated cost of Rs 65 lakh with facilities of audio-visual shows and planetarium. “It will travel in the district for two months, especially in rural areas. It will be stained for two days at each school in the district. This type of bus facility has been launched for the first time in India,” said senior curator of NCSM, Kolkata, N.Dasgupta.

He also said that another mobile van will be launched in another couple of months. “ Our objective is to reach out to maximum students in rural areas and generate interest among students to explore science as a career,” he added.     

Dhenaknal Science Centre was established on May 5 1995, with a floor area of around 1150 square meters. The Centre has several tourist attractions including life science galleries, chemistry corner, science park and 3D theatre.
