‘Mo Bus’ Service: 140 CRUT buses return to city road

Bhubaneswar: Fighting all odds Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) authorities have restored city bus services in 19 routes out of 20 here in Odisha on Monday, ten days after the cyclone Fani battered the state capital.

While 140 buses are running in these routes, the company is trying hard to have 190 buses for the use of citizens by Tuesday.

As the city was massively hit by the severe cyclonic storm Fani, the absence of the network caused a serious handicap, but fighting all odds the technical experts are running the buses as the ticketing machines are SIM-based and without network, they cannot function. Not only that the depots and origin and destination (OD) terminals are yet to get power and water supply.

A senior CRUT official added only Route. No. 31 from Hitech Medical College to Bhubaneswar Railway Station (Master Canteen) is affected by the severe cyclonic storm as a bridge collapsed on its route. Other 19 routes are functioning smoothly with the tiring efforts of all staff of CRUT.

On May 3, the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani made landfall near Puri coast, causing huge damage to infrastructure and livelihood in 14 coastal districts in the state.
