Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD party legislators demanded unconditional apology from BJP MLA Subash Panigrahi who attempted suicide by consuming hand sanitiser in the Odisha Assembly on Friday.
The BJD members alleged that Panigrahi has ruined the holiness of the House by attempting suicide during its functioning and stated that they will not let the House run till the BJP MLA apologises.
They gathered in the middle of the House and shouted slogans requesting the Speaker Dr. Surya Narayan Patro to take disciplinary action against Panigrahi.
On the other hand, Congress MLAs today created ruckus over the mandi issue in the Legislative Assembly and demanded apology from the ruling party MLAs.
“This is the first instance when BJD ministers created ruckus in the well of the House. We will not allow the House to function until they seek apology”, says Congress MLA Tara Bahinipati.
Following the ruckus,the house has been adjourned till 4 PM today.
