Balasore: Some unidentified miscreants reportedly torched an ATM of Bank of India at Uttereswar market under Soro police limits in the district late on Wednesday night.
The incident came to light when a police team saw the ATM on fire while patrolling in the area. They called the fire brigade unit from Soro, who doused the flames.
Police suspect that the miscreants set the money kiosk on fire to destroy evidence after looting it.
Meanwhile the bank officials claimed that Rs 11.7 lakh have been looted from the ATM.
While locals demanded regular night patrolling in the area, Soro police has initiated an investigation into the incident.
