Bhubaneswar: Putting a question mark on the law and order situation in the capital city Bhubaneswar again, unidentified miscreants have beaten a youth to death and his aide inured in Baramunda area last night.
The deceased has been identified as Shivashankar Gouda (19) of Tapoban slum area located near Khandagiri. The injured is Linga Reddy (24).
The attack reportedly took place late in the eventing yesterday, while the victim duo was returning home by riding a motorcycle. A group of assailants armed with iron rods and sharp weapons intercepted and attacked them near a pond brutally.
While Gouda bled profusely due to the injury caused by the attack and died on the spot, Reddy was rushed to a private hospital in the city by Khandagir Police later.
Police have launched a massive manhunt in the city to capture the absconding attackers who are suspected to be residents of Baramunda area.
In his statement to police, the injured youth has claimed the incident to be a fallout of a past enmity between Gouda and a group of local youths.
