Berhampur: Unidentified miscreants killed a college lecturer by crushing his head with a stone at Biruligad under Rambha Police limits in Ganjam district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Ashwini Kumar Mishra, Lecturer of Jagannath Mahavidyalay of Rambha.
The incident came to fore early this morning after some locals spotted Mishra’s defaced body lying in a pool of blood on Biruligad road and called up police. The victim’s Royal Enfield bike bearing Registration Number-OD 07 S 9622 was also found by the side of the body.
Police rushed to the spot later and sent the body for autopsy to a nearby hospital.
Locals have suspected that the lecturer might have been killed over a past rivalry.
