Bhubaneswar: In yet another case of snatching in the city, miscreants today decamped with a gold chain and cash worth Rs 3000 from a couple this evening. The incident took place near Siripur police outpost under Khandagiri police station.
The victim identified as Priyatama Mohanty alleged that two bike borne miscreants snatched her vanity bag and gold chain.
“I was travelling on motorcycle with my husband when they grabbed my gold chain. I continued to shout but no policemen came to my rescue though the outpost was near the spot. We chased them but they disappeared within minutes,” alleged Mohanty. She later lodged a formal complaint with Khandagiri police station.
Frequent incidents of snatching have emerged as a major concern for city residents with several such incidents being reported this month. On May 19 three incidents of snatchings from morning walkers were reported from Khandagiri, Bomikahl and Dhauli area in the state capital.
