Miscreants snatch cash, mobile phone from trader after knife attack

Kendrapara: Throwing an open challenge to police, a group of unidentified miscreants snatched away cash and mobile phone from a trader in Bharatpur under Pattamundai area in Kendrapara district last night.

As per the report, the victim identified as Nirakar Nayak of Pokhariapada village was returning after closing his shop in Singiri Bazar when the loot took place late in the night.

A group of miscreants followed and intercepted Nayak at Bharatpur Chhak and tried to snatch away his cash bag. As he showed some resistance, the robbers stabbed him with a sharp knife inflicting injury on his abdomen.

Later, the robbers fled away by grabbing the bag carrying Rs 8,720 in cash and mobile phone.

Nayak was later rescued by some passers-by and admitted to Pattamundai Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident and are trying to trace the accused.
