Nabarangpur: Tension ran high in Panar village under Dabugaon police limits in the district last night after unidentified miscreants injured an 18-year-old teen by slitting his throat and locals suspected it to be a handiwork of child-lifters on prowl in and around the area.

The injured has been identified as Bikash Behera, son of Satyanarayan Behera of the same village.

The attack took place at around 11 PM in the night while Bikash went out of his home to attend the nature’s call. A group of miscreants pounced on him and slit his throat with a sharp object before fading away into the darkness.

The injured was immediately rushed to Umerkote CHC in critical condition by family members and was later shifted to Nabarangpur DHH due to critical condition.

Dabugaon Police have reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.

On the other hand, locals are in a state of panic following the incident and have started guarding the village by forming a number of groups as they fear the hand of either child-lifters or kidney racketeers behind the incident.
