Miscreants shoot dhaba owner for not serving ‘chicken pokoda’

Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Kalinga Studio Chhak under Khandagiri police limits here last night after some unidentified miscreants opened fire at a roadside ‘dhaba’ owner in which he sustained critical injury.

The victim has been identified as Smruti Ranjan alias Nilu. He runs a roadside eatery close to Bharatpur area near Kalinga Studio Chhak.

As per the report, a group of bike-borne miscreants reached Nilu’s dhaba at around 10 PM in the night and asked him to serve ‘chicken pakoda’. As the victim informed that, there was no ‘chicken pokoda’ available at the shop the miscreants indulged in an argument with him and in a fit of rage fired a bullet at him.

The attackers drove away on their bikes following the incident.

Some customers present at the eatery at the time of the incident rushed the victim to a nearby private hospital in critical condition.

While, the role of any past rivalry is yet to be established in the incident, Khandagiri Police has started investigation in the case.
