Cuttack: Yet another ATM loot was averted in the state last night after a group of unidentified miscreants broke open a teller machine of a private bank located in Choudwar area but found its cash tray empty.

As per the reports, the Axis Bank ATM located at Manguli Chhak was spotted ransacked by some customers who had reached near it to draw cash this morning. They immediately called up the bank authorities as well as police and intimated the matter.

Choudwar Police along with bank officials found the ATM vault open with the internal cash trays removed after reaching the spot.

However, Tanmay Mohan Patra, who works as the technical loader with the Axis Bank Manguli Chhak branch confirmed it later that no cash was fed in it for last two days due to heavy rain and hence the looters had failed in their loot attempt.

Notably, in a similar incident on July 14 in Khalingi Indian Bank Branch in Ganjam district, a group of looters had to run away for their lives after the security siren installed at an ATM near it went off during burglary attempt. Earlier in the year on March 2, miscreants had also tried to loot a teller machine of State Bank of India (SBI) located at DRDA Square in Phulbani town.
