Rourkela: Throwing a challenge to police in the Steel City Rourkela, bike-borne miscreants looted at least Rs 25 lakh from a cash van after putting the bank staffs at the gunpoint at Sorada under Bisra Police Station area last night.
The incident took place at around 9 PM while the van of a security agency carrying cash of State Bank of India (SBI) was on its way to load it in an ATM machine at Sorada. A group of men on bike intercepted the van near Sorada Square after chasing it for a few distance and snatched away the cash bags putting bank staffs and guards boarding it at the gun point. Later on, they fled the spot in a hurry snatching the guard’s rifle.
Bisra police rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry after being intimated by the bank staffs later in the night.
