Puri: Armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 19.5 lakh from the employees of a private bank on gun point at Gopalpur under Nimapara block in the district today.
As per reports, the incident took place when two employees of the private bank were on their way to deposit the cash in a car.
Police said that the bank employees claimed that six miscreants on two motorcycles intercepted the car and later terrorised them on gun point. Police have detained the driver of the car for further investigation.
“We strongly suspect the miscreants of having prior information of transportation of huge amount of cash. We are also trying to ascertain the possible involvement of insiders in the crime,” said a police official.
