Miscreants loot Rs 1.5 lakh, gold ornaments from businessman in Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: Three unidentified miscreants on Tuesday looted gold ornaments, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and a scooty after attacking a jewellery businessman with sharp weapons near Pahimoda toll gate in Brahmabarada under Dharmasala police limits in Jajpur district.

The injured businessman has been identified as Maheswar Sahu of Bandhadhia village in Jajpur.

Sources said, Maheswar was returning home after closing his jewellery shop when three bike borne miscreants stopped him and attacked with sharp weapons. He sustained severe injuries on his head.

After snatching the gold ornaments, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and scooty they fled from the spot.

The locals then immediately rushed him to a government hospital in Brahmabarada for initial treatment . Later, he was shifted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

On being informed, the police reached the spot and started their investigation
