Angul: Throwing an open challenge to police, a group of unidentified miscreants looted over Rs 10 lakh from a trader at gun point in Athamallik area in the district on Thursday.
The incident took place in the morning, a few minutes after the victim identified as Mahesh Aggarwal reached his cement shop located in Athamallik Market and was preparing to lift the shutters. At least four bike-borne miscreants approached him on a bike and started threatening at the gun point. They snatched away a cash bag which Aggarwal was carrying and drove away in a hurry later.
Police swung into action and conducted an investigation after the victim lodged a complaint with it in connection with the case later in the morning.
Scientific team and dog squad were engaged in the investigation by police of late.
