Paralakhemundi: Tension ran high in Bhalipanka village under Mohana Police Station area last night after unidentified miscreants killed a man by slitting his throat over suspicion of sorcery.

The deceased has been identified as Mikhail Pradhan, a resident of the same village.

Pradhan, who left his home last afternoon didn’t return home till late in the night. Though a frantic search by his family members went in vain, he was found lying in a pool of blood with throat slit inside a forest near the village.

While police suspect involvement of a group of assailants in the murder of Pradhan, his father has alleged the hand of one Marshal Parichha of neighbouring Tambaguda village in the killing.

“Marshal’s son had died of dog bite around 2 months ago. However, since then he was suspecting that my son had killed him with the help of witchcraft. He had indulged in an argument with me over the issue some days ago. I suspect his role in my son’s murder,” alleged Magata Pradhan, deceased’s father.
