Miscreants hurl bombs at resident’s house in Puri over past dispute

Puri: Tension ran high in Satapadagad area under Brahmagiri block in the district last night after unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at a resident’s house over past enmity.

As per the report, miscreants came on bikes and hurled three to four bombs at one Raju Jena’s house before escaping from the spot. While nobody was hurt in the attack, doors and windows of Jena’s house was badly damaged.

Satapada Police reached the spot after getting intimation on the incident and conducted preliminary investigation. It seized threads, stones and iron bolts used in making country bombs from the spot.

Satapada Police said, it suspects that the bomb hurling is connected to a dispute which took place between two groups of Satapada and neighbouring Gambhira village over a Volley Ball tournament a couple of days ago.

While, palpable tension prevailed in both the villages following the incident, bomb hurling incidents took place between the rival groups at Satapada College Chhak at a later stage, which left one youth injured. Two platoons of police force have already been deployed at the Gurubai and Chandikhol Chhak to tackle the situation, it added.
