Miscreants hurl bombs at BJP Pipili MLA candidate’s house

Puri: In a case of suspected post-poll violence in Kamakantia under Balanga police limits in Puri district last night, unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at BJP’s Pipili MLA candidate Ashrit Patnaik’s house in which his family had an escape.

As per the report, a group of bike-borne miscreants arrived at Patnaik’s house late in the night and lobbed three bombs back to back at it leaving the windows and walls badly damaged. However, Patnaik and his family saved their lives by staying inside.

Later, getting a call from the victim family, Balanga Police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. Ample number of policemen has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order situation and further investigation is underway into the incident.

Notably, Patnaik had contested and got defeated from Pipili Assembly constituency in the recently concluded election. The seat went to BJD’s veteran leader Pradeep Maharathy.
