Miscreants hurl bombs across Polasara in Ganjam, 2 injured

Berhampur: In an incident dampening the festive spirits on the eve of ‘Diwali’ unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at multiple places in Polasara area of Ganjam district last night and left at least two persons hurt.

As per the report, while the denizens were busy in shopping for the ‘festival of lights’ across Polasara last evening a group of bike-borne miscreants drove through the area and hurled country bombs at five places including Bazar Sahi Chhak, Rani Pada Chhak and Balighai Chhak at around 8.30 pm before fleeing away.

While the bombs hit shops and caused significant damages one Anil Mallick (39) of Polsara sustained an injury to his right eye. Another Shankar Behera of Rani Pada was also hurt in his left leg. Both the victims were rushed to Polsara medical and then shifted to MKCG medical in Berhampur for better treatment.

Getting intimated on the incident, Polasara Police Station IIC Jeetendra Kumar Mallick and Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray rushed to the spot and carried out an investigation.

While the motive of the miscreants behind hurling bombs is not known the police are trying to trace them.
