Phulbani: Some unidentified miscreants allegedly fired at former Phulbani MLA Debendra Kanhar’s car last night here in Kandhamal district. However, Kanhar narrowly escaped the mishap.
Miscreants fired bullets at Kanhar’s Bolero SUV while he had reportedly parked the vehicle before entering in one of his relative’s house at Irrigation Colony of district headquarters town.
Window pane of the car was broken following the firing, said sources.
While the exact reason behind the firing is yet to be known, it is suspected that it might be due to past rivalry over land issues.
Phulbani police initiated an investigation after the former MLA filed a complaint soon after the incident.
