Puri: Unidentified miscreants allegedly decamped with cash worth lakhs from the donation box of Siddha Mahavir temple under Talabania police limits in last night.
The matter came to light this morning after the priest of the temple noticed the main door of the temple broken.
Though the exact amount of money stolen is yet to be ascertained, the temple priest said that the amount would be over Rs 2.5 lakh. A case in this connection has been registered with the Talabania police station.
Police said that they have detained one person in this connection and are further interrogating him. Police said that they will also the temple authorities to install CCTV surveillance at the temple.
