Miscreants brutally kill Sarpanch’s husband, close aide in Odisha

Cuttack: The husband of a village sarpanch and his close aide died in a brutal attack by some unidentified miscreants in Banki area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Bhagaban Sawain, husband of Nuagaon sarpanch  and his close aide Aditya Ranasingh.

According to reports, the miscreants attacked Swain and Ranasingh with sharp weapons sat around 2.30 PM when they were returning to Khajuripada from Banki block headquarter.

The miscreants reportedly chopped off a leg of Ranasingh.

The locals rescued the duo in a critical condition and rushed them to Banki Hospital where doctor declared Ranasingh as ‘brought dead’. Swain was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition was deteriorated. However, he was also declared ‘brought dead’ at SCB hospital.

Locals alleged that the attack was committed due to political enmity. Nuagaon village remained tense today following the incident.

Meanwhile, Baideswara police reached the village and stared a probe into the matter.
